Ms. O in her 50's came to our place with her body stark and stiff.
"What happened? Did you strain your back?"
"I had a backache, so my husband did massage for me. Since he did massage on my left back with his leg, it's been funny. It was not that painful in the beginning, but the pain has become stronger, and now it is beyond tolerance."
Her husband always massages her body whenever her body, such as shoulder, back and leg, gets tired. She usually feels better afterward, but this time was different. Whenever she moves, sitting in a chair and getting on the bed, pain attacks her.
Originally the pain was only on left side of her back, but after a week, now all of her back was in strong pain.
From the pelvis and sacrum, left side was contorted. The sacrum was laterally contorted to the right side. The shoulder and back were very tense in order to balance out the whole body.
Since she was in such a strong pain, I applied ROLL to unwind, then worked on her left pelvis, and sacrum #2, which was causing a strong pain.
By the end of the session, the pain was eased, so that she could even smile.
"Oh, the pain is much better now, thank you so much!"
The massage resulted her in pain in her back. It is possible that by pressuring her back with his ankle, her back made larger contortions. Unfortunately the husband's kind intention did not relax her muscle, but made contortions of her skeletal structure.
When I was a little, I used to stand on my father's back or leg to massage. Thinking back that time now, I was too light to make contortions, and it was not helpinf my father's body at all.
Here are the suggestions I made to Ms. O
- Massage should be done lightly just to relax muscle
- Never push too hard
- Never push where it hurts
"I was doing totally opposite thinking it would work. I will never do those again." says Ms. O.
She came again on the following day.
She still feels the pain, but not as strong, and there was a big improvement from yesterday.
The longer the time passes, the longer it will take to get better, because the area of pain and inflammation will expand over time.
If you feel something funny, please come and see us as soon as possible.
